One of the best things about Ireland is the expanse of great outdoors we have on our doorstep. Incredibly lush, green and beautiful, it’s just one of the many things that makes visitors fall in our love with our country.

So what better way to send your time here than to get active and take part in any of the awesome running races dotted around the country?

But did you know that almost every week throughout the year there’s a race happening, ranging from a straightforward 5k, all the way to ultramarathons, triathalon and even Iron Man!

1. Dublin Marathon

The Dublin marathon takes place on Sunday 28th October and is a fantastic event for everyone who wants to combine sports, adventure and, of course Irish culture. Taking you on a full lap around the city, you’ll take in all the sights and enjoy the cooler Irish climate- perfect for marathons!

2. Run Galway Bay 10k, Half Marathon & Marathon

The Galway Bay run is a race with a difference. Combing the famous Latin quarter, the Quay and breathtaking views of the Burren and the Atlantic oceans, it’s a wonderful place to run in a low key environment with friendly faces and have plenty of fun. It takes place on Saturday 6th October 2018- be there!

3. Celtic Warrior

Just the name ‘Celtic Warrior’ should tell you all you need to know about this race! It’s tough, it’s fun and it’s definitely not for wimps. There are races for many levels in this race including swimming, running and cycling, plus a range of options that will challenge the inner warrior in everyone. It’s happening on Sunday 5th August 2018 so there’s still time left…

4. Connemara 100

Think you could run 100 miles? Then not only do we bow down to you, we also suggest you check out the Connemara 100. Taking you through the gorgeous Irish countryside, you’ll enjoy Clifden, Letterfrack, the Inagh Valley and many more stunning places besides. 5. IRONMAN 70.3 Dún Laoghaire

And finally, we thought we’d wrap up with another epic race- Ireland’s biggest triathalon- the  Ironman. Come and take a ‘dip’ in the Irish sea, cycle the epic Wicklow Mountains and run all the way to East Pier. If your sights are high, this race on Sunday 19th August is also one of the first qualifiers for the 2019 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Nice, France.
