About Us

The Independent Holiday Hostels of Ireland (IHH) are a co-operative society of over 60 Tourist Board Approved hostels throughout Ireland – North and South.
We can offer over 6,000 hostel beds across Ireland. With hostels in a variety of locations, from high up in the mountains, urban centres, to the tips of peninsulas, travelers will find it easy to plan their trip around Ireland.

Holiday hostels vary in shape and size, and quite often reflect the characteristics of their owners or locality. Our hostels offer a range of rooms, dorms, en-suite rooms, wheelchair accessible rooms & even camping and caravan facilities. All holiday hostels have a self catering kitchen and are registered with the Tourist Board. This means they fully comply with health and safety regulations and meet the high standards of the Irish Tourist Board. All our member hostels are independently owned and operated so you don’t need to be a member of any organisation to stay at one of our hostels.

Hostels are sociable places to meet and share with fellow travellers. They have a wide range of facilities for their guests such as self catering kitchens, common rooms, internet/WiFi and games. Some hostels even have cinemas and saunas! If you haven’t tried a hostel you need to try one of our member hostels.

Our members pride themselves offering the traditional Irish welcome at a price that everyone can afford and strive to provide an excellent standard of accommodation and service.

If you feel that a hostel member has not met your expectations, or if you would like to make a suggestion, please speak to the hostel manager in the first instance. And, if after speaking to them, you feel that the matter has not been resolved to your satisfaction, please feel free to contact us.
