Sandrock Holiday Hostel is located at Ireland’s Most Northerly Point at Malin Head overlooking the fishing pier, beach, the wild Atlantic Ocean and highlands of Donegal across the bay.
Sandrock Holiday Hostel is also located on the Wild Altlantic Way and the Inishowen 100 Tourist Route
The ever changing wild spectacular scenery, especially the seascape can be observed from the hostel.
On arrival all guests are welcomed, given a tour of the hostel facilities and then a full description of what to do, where to go and given a personal map of the area followed by complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits.
The hostel is entirely self catering and ingredients for meals can be purchased in the nearby supermarket or in local pub/shops for preparation in the fully equipped hostel kitchen.
We can accommodate 20 guests in two ten bed spacious ensuite dormitories at a basic price of 13.50 euro pppn payable on arrival, please. * If you do not bring your own sleeping bag or bedsheet, a bedsheet can be hired at 1.50 Euro pp extra.
Duvets and pillows are supplied . So full bedlinen can be provided.
In the Hostel double self catering kitchen you can also cook crabs, lobsters, mussels, oysters and fish – all available from local fishery.
You can also fish or swim from the pier below. Some guests surf, dive, canoe etc with own equipment.

A horse riding stable is available within 16 kms of hostel in Malin Town which offers beach horse riding.
During summer months basking sharks, dolphins and seals can frequently be viewed from Hostel.

Malin Head is described as a BASKING SHARK “HOTSPOT”During the Summers Malin Head and the North Coast of Donegal is teaming with BASKING SHARKS clearly visible from Hostel.
One of the Basking Sharks which was tagged outside the hostel in August 2012 ended up below the Canary Islands near Cape Verde in January 2013 on his holidays!
This Summer and Autumn 2014 again Malin Head had visitors – the BASKING SHARKS, DOLPHINS and ORCA WHALES were back!!
2014 There have been Dolphins around Malin Head from early May to late September seen daily all summer!
